The ‘I Will Reflect’ bracelets will be sold at the spa at Charleston Place for US$2 (approx. £1*) each and aims to encourage wearers to reflect daily on the need to protect their skin. 100% of the proceeds from the sales of the bracelets will go to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Foundation’s Department of Dermatology, to fund clinical research into the cause and treatment of skin cancer.
“Melanoma is a serious but potentially preventable type of cancer, and encouraging people to reflect on the need to protect and care for their skin will help them live longer and healthier lives,” said Bruce Thiers, MD, chairman of MUSC’s Department of Dermatology.
The Spa at Charleston Place has also introduced two new treatments developed by its therapists in conjunction with MUSC staff, which are offered to guests wearing an ‘I Will Reflect’ bracelet at a 20% discount. The ‘I Will Reflect Facial’ which costs US$125 (approx. £64*), and the ‘I Will Reflect Body Treatment’ which costs US$140 (approx. £71*).
Both 50 minute treatments cleanse, exfoliate and retexture the skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth. Included in the treatments are sun safety tips, skin checks and a bottle of B. Kamins SPF 30 sunscreen.
