Gibbes Museum of Art
Experience Charleston's history through art. Built in 1905, the Beaux Arts structure houses an outstanding collection of American paintings, including a group of Carolina portraits of the 18th and 19th centuries and a collection of miniatures. Complimentary cell phone tour (using your own phone) is offered with paid admission.

Charleston Museum
Founded in 1773, the oldest museum in the United States houses rich collections representing natural history, historic archaeology, ornithology, history and the decorative arts, with special emphasis on South Carolina. A full-scale replica of a Confederate submarine is also on display.

Old Slave Mart Museum
This museum recounts the story of Charleston's role in the inter-state slave trade by focusing on the history of the particular building and site and the slave sales that occurred there through the perspectives of historically-documented buyers, traders and enslaved African Americans.

Children's Museum of the Lowcountry Navigate eight hands-on exhibits that combine playing and learning! Race boats down rapids, take the helm of a Pirate Ship or climb to the top of a Medieval Castle. This museum features unlimited adventures for children and families.

Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum
The world’s largest naval and maritime museum, Patriots Point features the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown, WWII’s famous “Fighting Lady,” as well as three other ships and twenty-five aircraft.
Admission: $18 for adults; $11 for children
Hours: 9am - 6:30pm, daily
