Paris
Paris, the city for lovers - undoubtedly true, but it is also a city for gourmets, art connoisseurs, budding architects and shoppers!
This elegant city offers opportunities for so many memories; from an indulgent coffee in the Place de l’Opéra, an evening of romantic dancing or the steamy atmosphere inside le Moulin Rouge, a promenade through Les Tuileries, a few hours of erudition at Le Louvre and its hotly debated pyramid, or the Pompidou Centre - a piece of art in itself - and the many street artists outside.
The wide tree-lined boulevards are perfect for strolling before dinner, which in itself will be an experience to treasure. Climb the Tour d’Eiffel for amazing views of the most famous Parisian landmarks such as the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame and the Sacré Cœur shimmering on the hilltop. Drop down into one of the Art Deco metro stations and head to Boulevard Haussmann for a spot of designer shopping or relive the Sartre days in the unashamedly trendy Latin Quarter.
Paris is packed with history - some of it rather grisly. Visit the Bastille where the sound of the guillotine echoed around the square. And the celebrated Père Lachaise cemetery is the last resting place to many of Paris’s most famous children such as the tragic Abélard and Héloïse, writers such as Molière and Balzac, chanteuse Edith Piaf and many more. With so much to do and see, a day in Paris will provide memories to last a lifetime. |
